Portfolio: Interstate 465 West Leg Corridor

When the Indiana Department of Transportation decided to upgrade the west leg of the aging I-465, it wanted to provide something unique and significant to travelers of this important loop corridor. The idea for a series of “signature” bridges was developed. The bridges would have a radical appearance and structural system that would remind visitors of the nearby speedway, as well as point to Indianapolis’s reputation as a leader in industry and technology. It would also give the neighborhood users a safe, fun connection across the new widened freeway below, and something they could be proud to showcase in their community.
